Lucy Bishop (Dip. Couns) integrative therapist based in Goldington, Bedford.

Welcome. I'm Lucy Bishop (she/her), an integrative psychotherapist working with adults from my purpose-built garden therapy room in the Goldington area of Bedford. I also offer online sessions for those who prefer or need to meet remotely.

Choosing a therapist is an important decision, so I offer a free, no-obligation 15-minute introductory phone call. This gives us the opportunity to talk about what brings you to therapy, answer any questions you have, and see whether we feel like a good fit to work together. If we decide to move forward, I'll send you my counselling agreement and policies before booking your first session.

If working towards specific goals feels important to you, we can discuss these during our early sessions. Equally, a goal-focused approach is not right for everyone, and therapy can simply be a space to reflect, process and grow at your own pace.

I offer open-ended therapy, meaning there is no fixed number of sessions. You are welcome to continue working with me for as long as it feels helpful. We will regularly review how the therapy is progressing and, when the time feels right, work towards ending our sessions together in a thoughtful and collaborative way.

I am an integrative therapist, which means I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs. My work is informed by psychodynamic, person-centred and existential approaches, allowing us to work in a way that feels most helpful for you.

Therapy offers a warm, safe and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, experiences and relationships without judgement. It is an opportunity to be curious about yourself, deepen your understanding of your experiences, and work towards meaningful and lasting change.

Therapy is not about giving advice or telling you what to do. Instead, we work collaboratively, exploring what is important to you and supporting you in finding your own understanding and direction.

MY APPROACH

WHAT BRINGS YOU TO THERAPY?

People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons. You might be feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, anxious or low. You may be navigating grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, questions around identity, intimacy or sexuality, living with chronic illness, or exploring your experience of neurodiversity. Sometimes there is a clear reason for reaching out; other times, it's simply a sense that something doesn't feel quite right, or that life has become harder than it needs to be.

While these experiences may bring you to therapy, I don't believe that people can be reduced to a diagnosis, a label, or a list of problems. At the heart of therapy is the relationship we build together. Creating a space where you feel safe enough to be honest, curious and vulnerable takes time, and that relationship forms the foundation for meaningful change. Rather than offering quick fixes or promising to heal or "fix" you, I offer a warm, calm and non-judgemental space where we can explore your experiences together, at a pace that feels right for you.

Therapy is a collaborative process. I'll bring my experience, curiosity and perspective; you bring your own knowledge of yourself, your story and your willingness to engage with the process. Together, we'll explore what may no longer be serving you, make sense of patterns that have developed over time, and support you in building greater self-awareness, self-esteem and confidence to live in a way that feels more authentic to who you are.
